IKEA is warning parents about a potentially deadly tipover risk involving 27 million dressers and offering a free kit to eliminate the danger. Read on to find out how to get it.

Following the deaths of two children who had dressers fall on them in the past 1 1/2 years, the retailer is urging owners of certain children's dressers and those with three, four or six drawers to anchor their furniture to the wals.

The national action affects IKEA children’s chest and dressers taller than 23.5 inches, adult chests and dressers taller than 29.5 inches and 25- or 50-inch-high chests in the BUSUNGE, NORDLI, STOCKHOLM, and STUVA lines.

One of the concerns, said the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is that a child might try to climb a an open drawer like a ladder rung to reach a toy on top, only to have it topple over on them.

TAKE ACTION: The kits can be ordered at IKEA-USA.com/secureitkits, calling 1-888-888-4532, emailing UScustomercare259@ikea.com, or by visiting an IKEA customer returns center.
