A glossy, white clawfoot tub commands attention in the corner of the bathroom. It’s a beautiful piece, but more than that, it’s a nod to the home’s former owner, actress Janet Leigh.

Leigh famously refused to use showers — and for good reason: She played Marion Crane, the character stabbed to death in a shower in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 thriller “Psycho.”

“I have absolutely no intention of stepping into a shower,” Leigh said in a 1995 interview.

According to listing agent Joyce Rey of Coldwell Banker Previews International, Leigh purchased the property in 1976. After she died in 2004, the estate moved through a couple of owners, with the current owner completing a full remodel of the home.

“It’s totally redone,” said Rey, who shares the listing with Valerie Fitzgerald, also of Coldwell Banker. “She [the owner] opened the floor plan, added a gym, redid the landscape, added an outdoor cabana and remodeled the staff area.”

Leigh’s former home sits on its own promontory with views stretching from the city to the Pacific. Encircled by pine trees and fully gated, the home is enormously private. The 5,180-square-foot home has four bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms and a separate, detached office. The focal point of the living room is a two-sided fireplace framed by white stone, which stretches to the ceiling. Black, glossy floors and bright paint colors continue the home’s contemporary feel.

The monthly cost of this celebrity home? Using Zillow’s mortgage calculator, it would be $30,935 with a 20 percent down payment and a 30-year loan.
