For sale: $1.99 million
For quite a number of years, these Las Vegas residents lived in a hotel right off the Strip. So when it came time to build their own home, they had a different point of view than most homeowners.
Forget a traditional three-bedroom, two-bath home. These homeowners wanted their custom residence to look like a resort.
"If for any reason it looked like a house, [the owner said] he was doing something wrong," explained listing agent Paula Burlison of Coldwell Banker Premier Realty.
That means the home has no hallways — he didn’t want it to look like a "mousetrap," Burlison says.
Rather, the house is designed like a wheel, with eight rooms jutting out like spokes from the main room. An enormous pool with a 20-foot stone water feature holds center court in the home. Above, a 15-foot skylight is framed by a blue tile mosaic.
“He wanted to be able to see the pool from any room,” Burlison said. “He built it to be an entertainer’s paradise.”
While the home has standard rooms — a large master suite, two secondary bedrooms and a modern kitchen — it also holds a theater room and wet bar area.
But even the normal functions of the house aren’t typical: Automated sliding doors mark the entrance to the master bedroom. The stainless steel front doors don’t have doorknobs, and like the master bedroom’s doors, are automated.
Nearly everything can be controlled remotely, from the fiber optic lights down to the pool’s temperature.
The 2-acre property holds a seven-car garage, as well as room for eight horses or even a helipad, Burlison says.
Although the home has acreage, it’s only three miles from the Strip, making it even more ideal for the homeowner looking to entertain.
“It’s an estate for someone who is looking for privacy, who wants to be in the fun part of Vegas,” Burlison said. “It’s a fun, fantastic place.”
