20 Years Ago: U.S. Federal Government Shutdown

 

In 1995, President Clinton and the Republican Congress were unable to come to an agreement over funding for Medicare, education and other government services. In result, government services were cut and federal workers were furloughed in a 21-day shutdown that started on December 16, 1995.
