Maxine Bédat and Soraya Darabi teamed up last year to launch Zady.com, a socially conscious shopping platform that enables customers to educate themselves about a product’s origins as well as its manufacturer’s environmental values. It’s this movement of conscious consumerism that Bédat, a former law clerk at the United Nations, and Darabi, a former digital strategist, hope to popularize among mainstream shoppers.
Here, the co-founders share the apps they rely on to manage their growing to-do lists and track the day’s headlines.
To Listen: Sonos
MB: The first thing I do in the morning is put the radio on. Sonos has the best app. I have speakers in every room of my apartment and can put the volume up or down in each room so I never bother my husband, and I never have to miss the news!
To Motivate: MyFitnessPal
SD: My sister and I use this app together to make healthy choices throughout the day. I exercise more because I have this app on my home screen of the iPhone, a subtle reminder to go to spin class or out for a run.
To Collaborate & Prioritize: Google Docs
MB: Our company runs on Google Docs. It allows us to seamlessly collaborate in real time. I also use Google Docs to manage my to-do list. It's far and away the most effective means to manage my ever-growing list.
To Inform: Circa
SD: I get all of my news and headlines from Circa. It helps me follow stories that are important to me, and of course I am always up to date on breaking news because I hear a "Circa ringtone" whenever something important happens in the world. It's essential.
To Create: VSCO
MB: They have the best filters for all my images. The world looks even more beautiful through VSCO.
To Rejuvenate: Calm
SD: My friend Diana recommended this app to me. Before or after my morning workout I try to listen to Calm, a meditation app, for 5 minutes a day. It's remarkable what 5 minutes of silence while listening to ocean waves break, or birds chirping, can do for you. I feel calmer, yes, and more productive throughout my day because of this fresh start app.
