Singer Lance Bass and his artist husband, Michael Turchin, have been married since December 2014, when the duo made history by becoming the first same-sex couple to wed on an American television network. But while “marriage has been great,” Bass said he and Turchin "can't wait" to grow their family.

“Me and my husband want to have kids, and we are going to start that process in the next year,” Bass told NBC OUT. "That is one of the reasons why we wanted to commit to one another."

"We think it’s important that [our kids] live in an environment where their two dads made a commitment to each other, because that is what I am used to," Bass added. "I respect the values that my parents gave me, and I want to pass that on to my kids."

Bass said he and Turchin are still undecided as to whether they will pursue surrogacy or adoption, but he said are currently “looking into it." One thing they have decided on, however, is they want to provide a stable and loving home for their children.

"There’s no perfect time to have a baby, but we want to make sure we are in the city we want to be in, and I know what my job is, so I can have the time to raise these kids.”

The couple recently moved back to Los Angeles, and Bass will be hosting the upcoming gay dating show, “Finding Prince Charming," on Logo.
