Alex Johnson is a projects and breaking news reporter for NBC News. He has covered four presidential elections, post-Sept. 11 security issues, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, consumer technology, and religion and values in American culture.
He has been a writer and editor for The Washington Post, Congressional Quarterly, the Knight-Ridder/Tribune Washington service, The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer and The State newspaper of Columbia, S.C., as well as an internationally syndicated columnist on international soccer.
A graduate of the University of Georgia, he has taught writing and editing at the University of South Carolina and Johnson C. Smith University.
