A New York City jail no longer bears the name of disgraced former police commissioner Bernard Kerik.

The name was changed back to the Manhattan Detention Complex after Kerik pleaded guilty to taking gifts from a construction firm and failing to report a loan from a real estate developer.

The jail had been renamed the Bernard B. Kerik Complex after the terror attacks of September eleventh, 2001. Kerik also had been the city's corrections commissioner.

In 2004, President Bush nominated Kerik to be the head of the Department of Homeland Security but the nomination later was withdrawn amid ethics questions.
