A blaze broke out at a firehouse, injuring three firefighters based there.

“I looked out the window a second time, because I couldn’t believe it,” said Nick Lymberis, co-owner of a nearby restaurant. “I never expected a firehouse to be on fire.”

One firefighter was injured when a ceiling light fell on him and was taken to a hospital, said Dan Paulukinas, assistant fire chief. Two others were treated for heat exhaustion.

The fire burned in the third-floor banquet hall and storage area and was put out in less than an hour. The cause is being investigated, but an electrical problem is suspected, Paulukinas said.

“A fire can happen anywhere,” he said.

Coatesville is about 35 miles west of Philadelphia.
