Supreme Court Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy had a stent inserted into one of the arteries of his heart after experiencing chest pain, NBC News reported Tuesday.

The procedure, which the Supreme Court said was “routine,” took place on Saturday after Kennedy, 70, complained of mild chest pains. There was no evidence of heart damage, and the court called this a “revision to a stent procedure” Kennedy had last November.

According to the court, doctors put a supplemental stent in on Saturday. Officials would not say whether it was in the same area as the last one.

Kennedy was released from the hospital the following morning and was back at work Tuesday, NBC News’ Pete Williams reported. He is scheduled to play golf later in the week.
