We are pleased to present the redesigned and re-engineered

At, we believe that the 2006 midterms and the 2008 presidential election may be the most important, pivotal and fascinating in recent history. We feel it is our responsibility to make sense of that for you.

In the coming months, we plan to deliver the most up-to-the-minute, insightful and interactive coverage available in one place on the Web.

Together with our NBC News political experts, including the amazing folks at Meet the Press and Hardball, we have teamed up with the National Journal publications to offer you the best possible political and election coverage.

Come here first and we will point you to the important moments. We'll show you the conversations you'll want to join. And most importantly, powered by the expertise at NBC News and National Journal, we will continue to build what we offer you in order to deliver the most useful, up-to-the-minute election coverage on the Web.

Join us in this incredible national conversation! And please, tell us what you think about our new features. We're trying some new things and we want to hear how they work for you, and what else you'd like to see. And, please keep checking in. We'll continue to add new content and functionality based on your feedback.

Let us know how these new features work for you:

  • Using a wider page optimized for most of our readers' monitors, we've created a new design that includes a photo-driven lead story area that allows for a mix of the interesting and important.
  • We've aggregated all of the political content on the site, with easy-to-find subsections for Hardball, Meet the Press and our new partner, National Journal.
  • There are a few new customization features that you can use by clicking on the tabs. This allows you to sort by the type of content you're most interested in: headlines, political video, key races -- and coming soon, discussions.
  • Within the headlines tab, you can create your own experience by choosing to see stories organized by importance (denoted by an exclamation point and assigned by an editor), date (from most recent, back) or source (for example, "Hardball"). You can also choose to view just a headlines list, or headlines and their summaries, simply by clicking the plus and minus buttons.
  • The interactive map, available on the "Key Races" tab, is a Virtual Earth map of the United States, with deep information from National Journal on Senate, House and gubernatorial races, clickable by the locations you're most interested it.
  • Soon, we'll have a tab that will send you straight to our message boards, allowing you to jump in on the many conversations going on across the country.

Please let us know what you think of our remodel, and tell us what you'd like to see as we continue construction.
