‘Bachelor’ a real Prince Charming this season

Plus: Why a "Project Runway" rerun? Was that really Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life" on "Dancing With the Stars"?

Before we get to the questions, a note something readers (and we) were confused about.

Last Wednesday, some viewers who tuned in for "Project Runway" on Bravo were surprised to find a repeat instead of a new episode.

That day, Bravo aired a marathon of the season's episodes, so the show's normal timeslot was filled with a repeat. Confusion was compounded by the fact that Bravo's Web site seemed to indicate that a new episode was airing that night.

With the third season of the fashion design reality show now down to four designers, it will air its final challenge episode this week, on schedule, a Bravo spokesperson told us. After that, on Oct. 4, the designers will gather together for a reunion, and then the finale will air in two parts on Oct. 11 and 18. The winner will be announced during that second finale episode.

By the way, the "Project Runway 3" fashion show took place a few weeks ago, and thus , leading to a lot of speculation about who may win as a result of their work. All four designers presented collections; in the past, one of those four has been a "decoy" collection to prevent advance knowledge of the last elimination.    —A.D.

Q: I’ve asked this question like 10 times, but can’t seem to get an answer. Is "The Bachelor" or "Bachelorette" ever going to come back on? I really miss these shows! Thanks!    —Kelly

A: Yep, "The Bachelor" premieres Oct. 2 on ABC, and this time, the dating show is heading to Rome. For all those women out there who always wanted to meet Prince Charming, this is your chance (well, this was your chance, since the show has already filmed). The new Bachelor is , apparently a minor royal from Italy.

Although he was born in Milan, Borghese is a U.S. citizen who's lived in the U.S. since he was five. And he runs a cosmetics company, but get this -- it sells cosmetics for pets. OK, so not really "cosmetics," let's call them "grooming products" -- shampoos, spritzes, liquid pet mints (!) and more. But I can't possibly be too hard on the guy, the is dedicated to his late beloved black lab, Belle, who died of cancer in 2005. Who can dislike a guy who loves his late dog so much?

And the prince sounds like a good regular guy overall. Liz Smith writes in Variety that he insisted no models be among the mix of women. (Smith also reports that the American women weren't too thrilled when a few Italian women were thrown in to compete for the Bachelor's affections also.)

And because we get questions all the time about other recent "Bachelor" couples, we'll say that E! Online's Korbi Ghosh reports that she stumbled across Charlie O'Connell and his "Bachelor" choice, Sarah Brice, at a restaurant .

We don't know if Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado, another "Bachelor" couple, have wed yet. The claimed they would wed in the first three months of 2006, which obviously passed a long time ago. But if they did wed, gives away nothing. One rumor has them tying the knot this November. They already own a Florida home together.

And since we're frequently asked about Tennessee "Bachelor" couple , we'll mention that they apparently broke up shortly after their show aired, according to the Tennessean newspaper.    —G.F.C.

Q: From the ["Dancing With the Stars"] episode aired Tuesday, Sept. 19, what is the song that Harry Hamlin danced to? The only words I could pick up clearly were “lust for life."    —Bebe

A: And that was the song's title: It was Iggy Pop's 1977 hit, "Lust for Life." Many music fans find it weird that the song has been accepted into the mainstream in such a way -- it's also been used in Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines commercials. Both the ads and the "Dancing With the Stars" usage seem really strange considering the lyrics. (Just a sample: "Here comes Johnny Yen again, with the liquor and drugs, and the flesh machine.")

I'm starting to think that the "Dancing With the Stars" folks choose songs first, and then listen to their lyrics. Don't get me wrong, "Lust for Life" is a great song, but it's not a ballroom dancing song.

Also, I can't have been the only one who noticed that, on the show's season premiere, Smashmouth's peppy "Walking on the Sun" was used. That song begins "It ain't no joke, I'd like to buy the world a toke." But when it was played on the show, the word "toke" seemed to have been definitely replaced. It sounded like "buy the world a coat" to me, although I'm open to the fact that it was most likely "buy the world a Coke," since that's the slogan Smashmouth was playing off of anyway.

We've written before about our Guess we can add Iggy and Smashmouth to that list now.    —G.F.C.
