A federal jury found an Oklahoma prisoner guilty Tuesday of threatening to kill President Bush, said John Richter, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma.

Richter said evidence at the trial indicated that in August 2005, Jeremy Vaughn Pinson mailed a letter from Lawton, addressed to the president, that said, "You will die soon! Die Bush die." The U.S. Secret Service intercepted the letter, determined the threat was credible and presented the charges for prosecution, Richter said.

"This case serves as a reminder that the making of any threat against the President is against the law and will be vigorously prosecuted," Richter said.

Pinson faces up to five years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 on his latest conviction. A sentencing hearing will be held within 90 days.

Pinson now is at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester, serving a three-year sentence for embezzlement. Pinson, who was a campaign volunteer for U.S. Rep. Ernest Istook in 2003, pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $32,000 from the Oklahoma congressman's re-election campaign.
