Barack Obama is making one of his first visits to an early presidential primary state.

The head of New Hampshire's Democratic party says the Illinois senator is coming next month for a belated celebration of the midterm elections.

Democrats regained control of Congress after the November seventh vote.

Obama is mulling a bid for the 2008 race. He generated a buzz in September after speaking at a Democratic event in Iowa, the state that kicks off the presidential nomination process.

With at least a dozen potential candidates, the race for the Democratic nomination could be a wide open one. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is considered a front-runner.
