It may never be as fast as e-mail, but the post office is trying for "Intelligent Mail."  That's the name of the new service they're starting. The postmaster general likens it to a global positioning system for mail.

That's the name of the new service they're starting. The postmaster general likens it to a global positioning system for mail.

It uses barcodes which are scanned as letters move through the postal system. That way, businesses can track where their mail is.

Three companies are now testing the service, which should be totally up and running by 2009.
