Another prominent Democrat has announced he's not going to try for the job. Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu has issued a statement saying he thinks he can best serve the people of Louisiana by finishing the job he started four years ago.

Last week, Democratic Senator John Breaux announced he's not going to run, and the incumbent Democrat Kathleen Blanco had already said she's not going to run for re-election.

All that makes life easier for the Republican front-runner, Congressman Bobby Jindal.

The only experienced Democrat in the race is now Foster Campbell, Louisiana's Public Service commissioner.
