Days Inn in Flint, Michigan. The website said "queen beds". We had a queen headboard, but a full size bed. The sheets had tags that identified them as full, but the front desk tried to tell me they used full sheets on their queen beds!

The un-forgettable (for all the wrong reasons) Top North Hotel in Mae Sai, Thailand. This is an example of what passes for 'security' at the 'Flop North'. What this hotel lacks in 'ambiance' is not made up for in scenic views as that aspect was even worse.

This is the air conditioner, complete with insulation hanging out the wall. This is only one of the fine ammenities that we were able to enjoy - not to mention the stained mattress, carpet so filthy you couldn't take off your shoes, unfinished bathrooms, cigarette burns throughout, etc.

This is what the lobby looked like - again, my son guiding the tour. We dropped the reservation and found another place across town.

First week of April, 2006 Location: Motel 6 in Dalton, Georgia Our reservation at another chain was somehow lost and we ended up at the Motel 6 in Dalton, Georgia. The bathroom was filthy… stained tub and a piece of toilet paper was used to plug a hole in the ceiling above the tub/shower. The bed was musty, the parking lot small and cramped. Trash cans outside were overflowing with various nasty refuse. The owner/operator did not speak English. It took an hour to get fresh linens and pillows because he did not understand what we were asking for. We remade the beds ourselves. Notes – Three

Here is a lovely lamp Two of us stayed at the Carter Holtel in New York the first of December 2006. The rates were so high that we decided to take a chance, thinking "How bad could it be?" Well, lets just say that we could not get out of there soon enough. I slept on the bed fully clothed and used my jacket as a blanket. The next day, the word of the day was "sponge bath!!"

This is a close-up of the four (4) hot dogs that I found in the hotel room safe! If you look carefully you can see the grey mold? growing on the top right of the hot dog that is second from the far right. This was at one of the higher priced hotels in the Orlando area. Their compensation? The use of a free bathrobe for the length of the stay...

This picture was taken at a Super 8 in Bismark, ND. Words can't possibly describe the rest of our short 8 hour stay at this hotel.

You're looking at a blood-stained pillow from the Sea World/Airport Hampton Inn in San Diego from about three weeks or so ago. Each stain is a little larger than a quarter. Alone in a king size bed I did not disturb the pillows on the opposite side of where I was sleeping. On the day I left I was looking for a something I had misplaced and moved the pillow for the first time and disscoverd what you see. When I discretely presented the pillow to management I was not offered an apology but was told, "that's weird." In fairness I was eventually comped one night which is ok. BUT, never was I proac

This is a snake we found inside our shower, which had a screened in window, while my wife had her hair full of shampoo. I calmly went down to the front desk and they sent the maintenance crew to remove it, they believed it was a baby boa. We had a private bungalow in the small village of Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica.
