The Senate takes up the immigration bill again today, as supporters try to make a bipartisan compromise stick.

After many senators got earfuls from constituents during their Memorial Day break, they'll vote today on more than a dozen amendments.

Arizona Republican Jon Kyl is one of the bill's architects. He says "no one is going to get 100 percent" of what they want. He says immigration is "one of the most contentious, complex, emotional issues of our time."

Republicans and Democrats are weighing a bargain that would trade a tougher legalization road for millions of unlawful immigrants for a better deal for family members of U.S. citizens and permanent residents.
