Two British cyclists were given a wild ride — and can expect a big tip — after two policewomen commandeered their pedicabs to catch a crook in Hereford, about 145 miles west of London.

The chase began after the policewomen received a call for help from fellow officers trying to arrest a man wanted for breaching bail, West Mercia police said in a statement.

The officers hopped into a pedicab — a two-seat tricycle powered by a cyclist — and pressed driver Ben Matthews into action. Fellow pedicab driver Will Vaughan spotted Matthews as he crossed Castle Green, a park in the center of town, and pedaled over to help.

"Soon Ben and I were closing the gap on the bad guys, I took the lead with Ben pulling the officers," Vaughan wrote in his blog.

"The next few minutes were a blur of (fluorescent) jackets, sweaty riders and panicking criminals but as (I'm) sure you can guess we got our man," he wrote.

Police said the man was arrested and remanded into custody for breach of bail and assaulting a police officer.

They also said the drivers would be getting a generous tip for the impromptu ride on June 8.
