A woman who posed as her dead roommate in the weeks after the other woman died has been sentenced to seven months in jail.
They’d known each other for just three days when 19-year-old Ashley Pierce died of a heroin overdose in February. Instead of reporting the death, Christina Tracy, 28, lived for three weeks with Pierce’s corpse.
She called Pierce’s father five times, each time asking for money on his daughter’s behalf, and telling him his daughter was fine.
Police eventually found Pierce’s body under a pile of clothing in the apartment.
Tracy pleaded guilty to identity theft and larceny.
