A Utah polygamist is barred from seeing one of his former wives and their children as a condition of his release from prison next week, the parole board said Wednesday.

The no-contact order for Tom Green came at the woman's request, board spokesman Jim Hatch said.

Green, 59, is set for release Aug. 7 after six years in prison. He was married to five women and drew the attention of Utah authorities after promoting his lifestyle on national TV talk shows.

In 2001, Green was convicted of child rape for having sex in 1986 with Linda Kunz, a 13-year-old who became his first wife.

Green was also convicted of bigamy for having four other wives whom he married in religious ceremonies. He was found guilty of criminal non-support for getting thousands in state welfare payments to support his 32 children.

Identified only as "L.B.," the former wife who wants no contact with Green also asked the board to order him to pay child support.

The parole agreement doesn't do that, but Green must complete counseling, mental-health therapy and pay the state more than $34,000 in restitution. He must register as a sex offender, Hatch said.

Green has said he plans to live with Kunz, who uses the name Linda Green.
