Why it's a deal: The value of this deal depends on your departure city. For example, this package is a roughly 50 percent better value if you're departing from Seattle than if you're departing from New York City. From Seattle, the lodging costs are only about $40 a day, when you consider that the lowest round-trip fares we recently found on Kayak for travel to Roatán in early November from Seattle (multiple carriers) was $715 and the package rate for air/hotel from Seattle was recently $1,009. The package is less impressive if your gateway is New York City. We recently found fares of $270 from New York (Taca), while the package price of $939 (for New York departures) means that the lodging costs break down to about $90 a day. But even if you're departing from other gateways, the convenience of the package, including the airport transfers, may make the deal alluring.

Trip details: The Lost Paradise Inn package offers lodging in one of 18 wooden cabins on a private beach. Each cabin has air-conditioning, a fan, a private bath, and either one queen bed or two double beds. The beach looks out on a bay sheltered by a barrier reef that provides good snorkeling. (Bring your own snorkeling or scuba-diving gear, or rent gear from a local supplier.) Flights to and from Honduras are on Delta.

Roatán, an island in the Caribbean Sea, was not significantly damaged by Hurricane Felix. The island is a popular diving destination because of the area's gorgeous coral reefs.

During this time of year, it typically rains at night through the early morning in Roatán. Before you go, check the , the exchange rate, and the local time at BudgetTravel.com.
