Now, Republicans are demanding a retraction and an apology.

The outburst from Congressman Pete Stark came as the House debated a children's health bill.

Stark took to the floor to denounce Republicans for funding the Iraq war but not children's health. Stark declared: "You don't have money to fund the war or children. But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement."

House Minority Leader John Boehner called on Stark to retract his statement and apologize. But Stark, who represents the liberal East Bay near San Francisco, says Republicans should apologize for voting against an expansion of children's health care.

The White House hasn't commented.
