NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams was honored with two Emmy Awards at the 28th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards ceremony in New York City. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented two Emmys to "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams," more than any other network evening newscast.

"NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" won for Outstanding Coverage of a Breaking News Story in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast. The winning nomination was for the broadcast's coverage of the crisis in the Middle East, highlighting the work of correspondents Richard Engel, Martin Fletcher, David Gregory, Kevin Tibbles and Dawn Fratangelo. "Nightly" also took home an Emmy for Outstanding Coverage of a News Story in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast for Ann Curry's critically acclaimed reporting on the humanitarian crisis in Darfur.
