We've found some exceptional fare sales with prices from just $159 each-way — easily up to 60 percent off their peak summer highs — that will have you trading in those humdrum days of winter back home for exciting trips to Rome, Dublin, London, Vienna, Zurich, and beyond. 

$450 & up: Alitalia fares to Rome, Florence & more Italy (round-trip)
Alitalia has just announced some excellent deals on winter travel to some of the top cities in Italy (and the rest of Europe). Round-trip fares start from just $450 and include travel from Boston, Chicago, or New York to destinations like Venice, Rome, Florence, and more. Travel is valid through March 28 and requires a Saturday-night stay. Just be sure to book soon for the best availability, and no later than Nov. 30.

$159 & up: Aer Lingus air to Ireland w/Dublin or Shannon (one-way)

$269 & up: Vienna fares from 15 U.S. cities on Delta (one-way)
Delta has posted some tempting sale fares to Vienna, Austria for travel this winter. This promotion’s lowest fare of $269 one-way is valid for departures from Houston or Pittsburgh; departures from other cities, including Atlanta, Denver, L.A., and more, are available at slightly higher rates. Travel is valid for weekday departures Jan. 2 through Feb. 28; this deal expires on Nov. 30.

$623 & up: Zurich ski fares on US Airways (round-trip)
US Airways has just announced a sale on fares to Zurich, with rates starting at $623 round-trip. Ski the slopes of Switzerland this year with fares available from 10 U.S. cities, including Philadelphia, D.C., Phoenix, and more. Travel is valid through Dec. 16 and again from Dec. 24 through March 31 — just in time for the holidays!

$504 & up: Fly to London in style w/MAXjet biz class air (one-way)
The lure of London is well within reach — and reachable in style, to boot — thanks to the business class fare sale on all-business-class airline, MAXjet. Low rates are available from $504 each-way via L.A., NYC, or Las Vegas. Just book by Nov. 14 for travel between Nov. 15 and Feb. 29.
