Mount Irvine, Tobago, $110 per room night
Located within a gated community in a two-acre valley, Petit Careme is offering a special discount for the low-season month of January. Guests can choose either the apartment, with a bedroom for two, a full kitchen, and a living room, or the bi-level villa, outfitted with a large balcony, a living room, a kitchen, and enough beds for six people (eight in a pinch). Both are decorated with bright tropical prints and teak and mahogany furnishings. Palm trees ring the pool, and a golf course is nearby. Rates start at $110 per night for the apartment, and villa rates are reduced to $290 (from $370) from spring through winter. Each additional person is $35 per night for the apartment or the villa. You can rent the villa and the apartment for a reduced combined price of $365 per night. Airport-villa transfers are included. Transfers to the apartment are $15 per trip each way. Breakfast is not included.

When: The lowest apartment rate is available through the end of January; $120 per night for Feb. 1-Dec. 15, 2008. The lowest villa rates are valid through Jan. 31 and Apr. 16-Dec. 14; $370 per night for Feb. 1-Apr. 15.

Grande Riviere, Trinidad, $112 per room per night
The package includes a one-night stay for two and breakfast at the family-run 10-room Le Grande Alamndier inn, located in the tiny Trinidadian fishing village of Grand Riviere. From March through August, the undeveloped local beach is a nesting site for leatherback turtles. The area has lots of hiking trails and waterfalls, and fishing and kayaking are among the activities available. If you stay longer than four days, you'll receive a 10 percent discount on the total bill. Nightly rates start from $112 per room for a double, with breakfast included. Or, opt for accommodations with two or three meals daily, starting at $101 per person per night for a double room with breakfast and dinner; add lunch for an extra $19 per person.

Details: Hotel taxes are included. Transfers to and from Piarco Airport, about a two-and-a-half-hour drive to the hotel, are available for $100 per trip regardless of the number of people. Bacolet Bay, Tobago, $140 per room per night
The French colonial-style Half Moon Blue Hotel, owned by former international fashion model Gloria Jones-Knapp, has reduced its rack rates for the low season beginning in May. The hotel, whose airy blue-and-white rooms have water views, is located at the foot of historic Fort George in Bacolet Bay, Tobago, a 15-minute walk from the capital, Scarborough. There's an outdoor pool, and diving, tennis, and golf are all available nearby. Discounted rates start from $140 per room and include a welcome drink, and breakfast at La Belle Creole restaurant, featuring ham and eggs or flying fish, with toast and jam, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee, tea, or chocolate. Reservations must be booked at least two weeks prior to arrival.

When: May 1-Oct. 31, 2008; add $20 per night for stays during the high season through Apr. 30.

Details: Hotel taxes and service charges are included. Based on double occupancy; solo travelers pay $20 less per night. If you stay at least five nights, airport-hotel transfers are included.
