It will be more than two weeks before we know the official winner of the March 4th Democratic caucuses in Texas.

On Monday, state party officials gave up on a voluntary reporting system that has produced results from 41 percent of the precincts. Those numbers show Barack Obama leading Hillary Clinton 56 percent to 44 percent.

The backlog was caused by about a million party members showing up for the meetings after the primary, far more than in previous years.

Some of the precinct chairmen sent returns to the wrong party officials, some haven't sent in any at all. Texas Democratic officials now say county chairmen don't have to reveal caucus results until local conventions are held March 29th.
