At least 18 people were injured Sunday when a boat carrying Louisiana prison employees collided with another vessel on the Mississippi River, officials said.

The collision occurred Sunday evening during a shift change, Louisiana State Penitentiary spokeswoman Kathy Fontenot said. At least two people were seriously injured.

No one went into the river, West Feliciana Parish Sheriff Austin Daniel said.

The accident involved the crew boat and a vessel pushing two barges, according to Coast Guard officials.
