Flights today at the airport were delayed because of a 14-hour power failure. More than 40 flights were canceled.

Power was restored a little after noon.

The delays were caused when a switch broke and maintenance workers were unable to restore electrical service right away.

An airport spokeswoman says the terminal then operated on a generator.

She says electricity was taken down last night for planned maintenance. The spokeswoman says when workers tried to restore it early this morning, a part in the main switch gear failed.
