MOUNT EVANS COLORADO the alpine garden trail- best to have somebody drop you off at the top of the trail and walk down- takes about 45 minutes- if you started at the bottom and hike up it would take two hrs or more and I do not think it would be as much fun- wear a hat- sunglasses, sunscreen and have a bottle of water. You must also remember to stop and look around- but do not go off the trail- you will damage the alpine soil and plantlife. Go during the week - less crowded.

We saw this little guy/gal run by our camp near Stanley Lake, Idaho. It had what looked like a small animal in its mouth and we assumed it had caught breakfast. About 30 minutes later we saw it again with another animal in its mouth and figured out is wasn't a meal but its own brood, it was moving its den from one side of the stream to the other. I staked out the log it was using to cross the stream and waited. I never got a picture with its young, I think it was smart enough to use another crossing downstream for that, but on the return trip it would cross in front of me and even posed fo
