The deal
Desire a trip to paradise? Look no further than French Polynesia. With gentle breezes, endless blue horizons and lush, rugged landscapes, this South Pacific collection of volcanic islands and atolls fits the bill. As tropical conditions prevail year round, there’s rarely a wrong time to visit. But prices do drop as temperatures rise. We found three packages, with airfare and lodging, to popular Society Island destinations — Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora – reflecting reductions on summer travel. A five-night trip with flights starts at $1,699.

Five nights in Moorea for the price of three
Picturesque Moorea is a South Seas standout with its craggy peaks surrounded by shallow crystalline waters. This package through Tahiti Legends and Air Tahiti Nui is as stunning as the destination: stay five nights and pay for only three. Starting at $1,699, the price includes roundtrip air from Los Angeles; accommodations in a garden room at the InterContinental Moorea Resort & Spa; inter-island flights between Tahiti and Moorea; and a lei greeting upon arrival. The quote applies to travel between November 1 and December 12 and again next year, between January 7 and March 27.

Six-night Tahiti package from $1,949
For a six-night Tahitian getaway, you won’t want to miss Virgin Vacations’ promo from just $1,949. As part of the “Tahiti at its Best” package, you’ll get oceanview superior-category accommodations at the Radisson Plaza Resort; roundtrip airfare to Papeete from Los Angeles; and airport transfers. Tahiti, the largest of French Polynesia’s 118 islands and one-time inspiration of painter Paul Gauguin, promises white– and black-sand beaches, jungle-like interiors and a vibrant capital. Travel between November 16 and December 10.

Three islands, eight nights from $2,679
If it’s too hard to choose between Tahiti and Moorea, this eight-night package, also offered by Virgin Vacations, might better suit you. It includes two nights in Papeete and three in Moorea. What’s more, you’ll get three nights in exotic Bora Bora. Also covered are the return flight from Los Angeles; air travel between the islands; airport transfers; and a lei greeting. A combination of standard accommodations starts the package at $2,679 for travel between November 1 and December 10. Springing for superior-category lodging will jump the package price tag to $3,679.

The dollars
All quotes are per person, based on double occupancy and include hotel VAT and government taxes. Airport taxes and fees are not covered.

The catch
November ushers in the warmer season. Expect higher humidity and a greater chance of rain.
