Brazilian police said a remote-controlled model helicopter killed a 6-year-old boy after it hit him in the head during a demonstration.

Pernambuco state police said the 3-foot-long helicopter spun out of control Sunday and struck Newton da Silva, in the rural city of Altinho.

Police said in a statement that Silva was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries hours later.

The man operating the helicopter says he lost control of the model. He was not arrested.
