A suburban Kansas City man who videotaped the death of a woman he suffocated during sex has been sentenced to death.
Richard Davis was sentenced Friday for killing 41-year-old Marsha Spicer in May 2006. A jury convicted the 44-year-old Davis of first-degree murder in July.
Police said Davis and Dena Riley, 42, were accused of first-degree murder, first-degree assault, kidnapping, forcible rape and two counts of forcible sodomy in the death of Spicer. Her naked body was found in a shallow grave near Bates City, east of Kansas City.
Davis received life sentences on more than 20 other charges.
He was also previously found guilty in the sexual attack of a 36-year-old woman in April 2006 and was charged with capital murder in her death.
Davis was on parole after spending nearly 18 years in prison for a 1987 rape and sodomy conviction. Riley has previously been charged with misdemeanors, but no felonies.
