CAPE BRETON RESORTS
The company owns four properties on Cape Breton Island and is offering a ton of golf packages. Here are a few that caught our attention.

At Dundee Resort, you can choose the Dundee Play & Stay-2008 package, which includes accommodations at Dundee Resort, 18 holes of golf, and a shared cart from Can198 ($170 as of press time). Or, opt for the Dundee Couples Golf package: accommodations, a dinner for two, and one nine-hole and one 18-hole round of golf, with carts, from Can$229 ($196) weekday and Can349 weekend ($299).

Interested in seeing more of the area? The Cabot Trail Ultimate Golf Tour — Ceilidh-2008 package covers one night at each of the following properties: the Ceilidh Country Lodge in Baddeck, Dundee Resort, and Glenghorm Beach Resort in Ingonish. You also get one 18-hole round of golf at each of these courses: Bell Bay, Dundee Resort, Highlands Links, and LePortage, with cart. Price is Can850 ($728, or $243 per room per night).

Why it's a deal: These packages take care of some of the incidental golfing expenses for you. Consider that at Dundee Resort alone, the green fees are about $44 per person for an 18-hole round of golf, the cart fees are $32 per 18 holes, and the club fee is $40 per person. Plus, golfing this late in the year will offer you some off-season savings (about 20 percent), and the U.S. dollar is relatively strong in Canada.

Course highlights: Dundee golf course is on the side of South Mountain and offers views of the Bras d'Or lakes. The championship course also just opened a 5,000-square-foot clubhouse. Highlands Links is ranked No. 71 in the world and number one in Canada. It's a challenging course, but the views of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park mountains along the Atlantic coastline will ease some of the par stress.

When: Through Oct. 31, 2008.

Details: Does not include taxes of 13 percent. Based on double occupancy; single occupancy rate varies depending upon resort.

WHITE POINT BEACH RESORT
The resort teamed up with Nova Scotia's Tourism Board to promote the Great Day Golf Getaway. It includes accommodations, 18 holes of golf, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a 30-minute massage for two, for Can320 ($274).

Why It's a deal: You can book the extras in this package all in one sitting — the golf (a $70 value), meals, and massage (a $90 value).

Course highlights: White Point's 60-acre course juts out into the Atlantic, so you can expect spectacular views. Championship rated, it has been around since 1932.

When: Through Nov. 30, 2008.

Details: Does not include taxes of 13 percent. Based on double occupancy; no single bookings. Based on a one-night midweek stay; add about $20 for weekend bookings. Use promo code P3661.
