The deal
Now that we've settled into fall, we’re seeing a bevy of airfares to international cities settle down to incredibly tempting rates. Hit up Europe for less with promos like free companion tickets and highly discounted fares, or check out promotional rates for new routes and fancy new fleets to locales in Australia and Colombia. Meanwhile, exotic capitals of Asia beckon with their winning combo of affordable flights and favorable exchange rates. Tickets are now on sale for as low as $99 each way, but hurry — some of these deals expire as soon as today!

Budget Italy fares on Alitalia from $489 round-trip
Italy is one of our favorite places to travel to come fall (and isn't so shabby in winter, either), thanks to mild temps, dispersed summer crowds, and best of all, some relative steals on airfare deals. Alitalia has just launched a series of discounted fares via Boston, Chicago, Miami, and New York to such bustling Italian capitals as Florence, Rome, Venice, and more from just $489 round-trip. Travel is valid October 27 through March 25, but must be booked by October 27.

Low Australia fares on new Qantas A380 fleet from $380 each way
Qantas can now lay claim to its own fleet of the much buzzed about Airbus A380 (the largest commercial jet in the world), and is celebrating by offering sale fares on its L.A. or San Francisco to Sydney route from just $380 each way. Nab the same low rate to Brisbane via San Francisco, or head to Sydney or Brisbane from the East Coast at New York from just $480 each way. Additional sale fares to Melbourne or Cairns via Los Angeles are available from $430 each way. While travel is valid through November 17, or again during the month of May 2009, these sale fares expire as soon as October 31.

Fly American round-trip to London & earn a free companion ticket
American Airlines has announced a downright tempting offer for bookings made on flights from the U.S. to the U.K. (London or Manchester) for travel now through December 31. Passengers who travel on eligible flights are entitled to a free companion ticket good for future travel on American flights to the United Kingdom — or the Caribbean, if a change in scenery is in order! —for travel in 2009 (outbound flight must occur between January 15 and December 15, 2009). All you need to do prior to booking is to register at for a free account at AA.com and subscribe to one of American’s e-mail products (like fare sale alerts). Note that the lucky person traveling on the free companion ticket must accompany the same paying traveler from the original U.S. to U.K. itinerary.

New route to Bogota, Colombia on JetBlue from $99 one-way
Popular low-cost carrier JetBlue has announced its first-ever service to South America with a new daily route to Bogota, Colombia via Orlando launching on January 29. It will be the only nonstop flight currently available between Orlando and Colombia, and direct service from New York’s JFK (via Orlando) is additionally scheduled. Introductory fares are available from just $99 each way and must be booked by October 23 for travel between January 30 and February 14.

Fly OpenSkies’ new NYC–Amsterdam premium route from $499 one-way
OpenSkies — an offshoot of British Airways, which debuted back in June — has added Amsterdam to its current route offerings (currently limited to Paris) via New York’s JFK airport. In celebration of the launch, OpenSkies has listed special rates in its “Prem+” class from $499 each way to Amsterdam or $599 each way to Paris for the first 1,000 seats booked on each route. Their premium seating section features extras like outlets at every seat, as well as reclining seats with extra legroom, personal entertainment systems, and flight attendants' "concierge” services. But hurry — while travel is valid through March 31, this promotion ends today (October 22)!

Asiana Airlines posts low one-way fares to Asian cities from $234
Asiana Airlines has just posted some fantastic rates to top cities across Asia, with fares starting at just $234 each way. Take off from more New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, or Seattle, and lock in low rates to exotic locales like Shanghai, Hanoi, and Hong Kong, among others. Valid travel periods vary by city pair through December 15. Book soon for the best availability.
