A victorious Joe Biden has come home to Delaware for the state's traditional day of post-election healing.

The Delaware celebration is called Return Day. Winners and losers in political campaigns join each other for a parade to symbolically "bury the hatchet."

The vice president-elect and his wife, Jill, rode in a white, horse-drawn carriage at the head of the Return Day parade in Georgetown, Delaware. People lining both sides of the street in a drizzling rain cheered as the Bidens passed by and waved.

Biden scored two victories Tuesday — he was elected vice president and won another term in the Senate.

Return Day also serves as a day for politicking and the start of new campaigns.
