Sara Lee North American Foodservice is recalling Chef Pierre Chocolate Peanut Butter Silk Pie, a foodservice product, because the product could be contaminated with salmonella. This organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. There have been no illnesses reported, according to the Downers Grove, Ill., company. The recalled product, with the UPC code 3210005095, was sold frozen with four packaged pies in each case. This product was sold and distributed nationally to foodservice companies and sold to consumers through Sara Lee outlet stores and other foodservice establishments.

Meijer is recalling two types of its Meijer Brand dry-roasted peanuts and four types of Meijer Brand ice cream novelties, sold in all of its stores in five states, because the products could be contaminated with salmonella. No illnesses have been reported, according to the Grand Rapids, Mich., company. The recalled products were sold in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. These products include:

SalmonellaThe recalled items' expiration date or the best before date will read either 11/01/07 through 12/31/07, 01/01/08 through 12/31/08, or 01/01/09 through 07/22/09. Lot numbers affected would be 07180 through 09022. The products were sold in grocery, warehouse and other retail stores throughout the U.S.

Perry’s Ice Cream is expanding its recall of select ice cream products containing peanut butter. The products could be contaminated with salmonella. The Akron, N.Y., company said it has not received any reports of illnesses. The products were distributed in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Florida, Illinois and Indiana. Simbree Energy Foods is recalling Simbree Oat Almond Pistash, Simbree Almond Pistachio Energy Bites and Simbree Oat Bites with Peanuts, Almonds and Pistachios. The products could be contaminated with salmonella. The products were distributed in the U.S. and Canada through grocery stores, bike shops, mail order and direct delivery. The expiration dates range from February 2009 through February 2010. The recall includes the following UPC codes:

  • 8 9484800006 9 — U.S. and Canadian, 6 ounce/170 gram individual packages
  • 8 9484800002 1 — U.S. and Canadian, 15 ounce/426 gram individual packages.

Weis Markets is recalling eight ice cream products because they could be contaminated with salmonella. No illnesses have been reported, according to the Sunbury, Pa., company. The recalled products include:

LesserEvil is recalling Peanut Butter and Choco Kettle Corn because the product could be contaminated with salmonella. No illnesses have been reported, according to the Tuckahoe, N.Y., company. All lot codes are being recalled. The product was distributed nationally, and it was also exported to Japan to Canada. The company sold the product through distributors to grocery and specialty stores and internet sales.It was also included in some gift baskets. The UPC of the product distributed in the U.S. and in Japan is 180999000356. The UPC for the Canadian product is 180999000516. Turkey Hill Dairy is recalling six ice cream and frozen yogurt items because they could be contaminated with salmonella. The Lancaster County, Pa., company said it has not received any consumer illness complaints about the products. The recalled products include:
