Congratulations to Greg Grimes of Kingwood, Texas, who captured this week’s top-rated image in the It’s A Snap travel photo contest. His image shows the bathhouse at the Boka Slagbaai dive site of Washington-Slagbaai National Park in Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles.

Bonaire, which is located in the Caribbean, boasts warm tropical waters, many species of fish and pristine corals. These are just some of the reasons that the area is known as a diving paradise, and why Grimes, who is a certified PADI rescue diver, considers it his heaven on Earth. “Bonaire is absolute diving freedom, and anywhere you go on the island, it is all about getting wet 24/7,” he said. “The lifestyle there is like having Europe in the Caribbean.”

He snapped this particular photo at Boka Slagbaai on the last day of one of his trips to Bonaire. “[The bathhouse’s] bright colors and sleek lines direct you into the Caribbean ocean,” noted Grimes. “Having a 20mm wide-angle lens on the camera at the time made for a great shot with the dramatic cloud formation in the negative space.”

“Going to Bonaire often, we make it a point to go to [Washington-Slagbaai National Park] during every visit and [are] always on the lookout for those special photographic opportunities,” he said.
