Statement from the International Modeling and Talent Association convention

IMTA began producing modeling and talent conventions in 1987 to provide aspiring models, actors, singers and dancers the opportunity to experience the world of fashion and entertainment first-hand.  With hundreds of national and international fashion agents, talent managers and casting directors in attendance, IMTA Contestants see and are seen by more industry professionals in one week than they could ever see by knocking on agency doors.

To attend an IMTA Convention, participants must begin with an independently owned and operated modeling and talent training center that is a member of IMTA. The Members, widely considered by industry professionals to be among the very best in the modeling and talent world, identify individuals with the drive and desire to work in the fashion or entertainment industry.  Each industry professional attending the IMTA Convention has his or her own criteria for identifying individuals they believe have a chance to succeed in the entertainment and fashion industries.

The cost a Member charges its participants to attend an IMTA Convention varies and depends, in part, upon the training center’s geographic location and the services provided by the training center.  The participant’s cost normally includes several months of training sessions and coaching, photographs, portfolios, travel and seven nights of accommodation at a premiere hotel in New York City or Los Angeles the week of the Convention.

IMTA and its Members make no other promises and require that each Contestant and their parent (if the Contestant is a minor) affirm in writing that no one has promised anything to them in return for their participation at an IMTA Convention other than the opportunity to compete and be seen by industry professionals.

IMTA enjoys an impressive track record of successfully launching modeling and acting careers for thousands of past Convention participants who are now working as professional models and actors as a direct result of their IMTA experience.  Some of the many who have become well known celebrities include Elijah Wood, Jessica Biel, Katie Holmes, Ashton Kutcher, Eva Longoria, Alyson Stoner, Moises Arias, Seann William Scott, Josh Duhamel, Adrianne Palicki, and many more.

Like many other endeavors, most Contestants who have worked hard and attended their training sessions have their efforts rewarded. On average more than 80% of IMTA Contestants get callbacks from the industry professionals to further explore their professional potential.  Regardless of that outcome, however, the IMTA Convention offers all participants valuable life lessons and an unforgettable experience.
