Emmy Award-winning Alison Stewart serves as a guest host on msnbc and is an NBC News contributor.

Stewart joined msnbc in July 2003. During her tenure with the network, she has anchored during several major news events, including Hurricane Katrina, the bombings in Jordan and the emergency landing of Jet Blue Flight 292 in Los Angeles, and she also traveled with actor Tom Cruise during his worldwide publicity tour for “War of the Worlds."

Previously, she served as anchor for ABC News’ “World News Now” and was also a contributor for “20/20 Downtown” and “Good Morning America.” Prior to reporting for ABC News, Stewart was a correspondent for CBS News’ “Sunday Morning” and also reported for “48 Hours,” “Weekend News” and “Public Eye with Bryant Gumbel.”  She began her career as a political reporter for MTV News, reporting and producing for “Choose or Lose” election coverage in 1992 and 1996. Stewart is a recipient of a Peabody Award for her production work in MTV’s first election coverage, and she won an Emmy Award for her reports from New York’s World Trade Center site, as part of ABC News’ coverage of Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Stewart graduated from Brown University with a bachelor of arts degree in English and American literature. She is active in various charities, including Dress for Success and Lighthouse, which performs reading services for the visually impaired. She lives in New York City and Woodstock, NY.
