The deal
Repositioning cruises can often provide great value, but finding a low-cost flight to the embarkation port can be tricky. Our editors have tracked down a stellar offer on a 13-night voyage on Royal Caribbean’s newest and largest ship starting from just $999 — with airfare and ground transportation included! The cruise by itself normally carries price tags from $849, and a one-way flight to London averages between $250 and $350. After factoring the cost of transportation to the ship, the savings can total around $300 per person.

The Independence of the Seas sets sail on November 23 from Southampton, England —approximately a 90 minutes’ drive from London. The ship makes its way along the English Channel to two ports in France, first docking in Le Havre followed by Cherbourg. From there, it spends a day at sea before reaching Vigo, known as “the Green Spain” for its lush landscape.

After that is a visit to Madeira, where passengers can pick up a souvenir of the area’s famous embroidery, or explore the town of Monte for some unbelievably scenic views. From here on out, the Independence of the Seas spends the next six days crossing the Atlantic before arriving in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Air-inclusive interior cabin rates for this voyage are priced from $999, with oceanview and balcony cabins starting from $1099, and $1299, respectively.

The dollars
All quotes are per person and based on double occupancy. Rates cover accommodations, airfare, meals and entertainment on the ship. Fees and taxes, as well as shore excursions, personal expenses, alcoholic beverages, and tips are additional.

The catch
The Independence of the Seas wasn't specifically designed for crossing the Atlantic so it may be a bit rockier than some of the classic ocean liners.
