“Life is good.”

That’s what Dave Biddle of Yakima, Wash., said after learning his photo was the top-rated image in this week’s It’s A Snap! contest.

Biddle captured the photo early one morning during last year’s Great Prosser Balloon Rally.

“I’ve only been doing photography for about six years,” he said. “I needed a hobby to get me outside.”

Biddle retired near the end of June, and plans on taking plenty of photos, “as long as the honey-do list doesn’t get too long.”

“I’m an amateur with aspirations of selling photos here and there,” Biddle explained. He’s had pictures published in magazines “from Australia to Italy” —  mostly travel magazines and brochures.

His favorite subjects to photograph are nature and wildlife, and he has quite the online collection.

As far as hot air balloons go, he can take a mean picture, but he’s never actually been up in one, but said “I’d like to before I leave this earth.”
