Blacksburg police arrested a man and woman for trying to steal beer.      It happened early Sunday morning, July 26 in the 900 block of University Boulevard.  Police say a man and woman went into the store.  The woman tried to distract the clerk at the self-check out line while the man tried to walk out of the store with a case of beer.  The clerk saw the man and told him to pay for the beer.  Police say the man pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the floor.  It scared the clerk and the pair ran away.     The clerk gave a description of the suspects to police.  Officers later tracked the suspects down.     Police charged 24-year-old Joshua Martin of Pearisburg with shoplifting, brandishing a firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon.  Martin was held in the Montgomery County Jail on $3,000 secured bond.     Police also charged 18-year-old Doris Oliver of Christiansburg with shoplifting, possession of alcohol underage, and drunk in public.  She was held in the Montgomery County Jail on $1,000 secured bond.
