The Real Deal: Round-trip multicity airfare on American Airlines (arriving in Rio de Janeiro and departing from Recife), a local flight on TAM Airlines between Rio and Recife, three nights at the Ibiza Copacabana in Rio, two nights at the Abracadabra Pousada in Búzios, three nights at the Beach Class Suites in Recife, two nights at the Pousada Tabapitanga in Porto de Galinhas, breakfast daily, all transfers, fuel surcharges, and hotel taxes, from $1,719 per person—plus taxes of at least $107.

Why it's a deal: According to a recent search on Kayak, the lowest multicity fare—New York City to Rio de Janerio, Rio to Recife, and Recife to New York City—in mid-September is $874 with taxes (TAM). For an additional $952, the Latin Destinations package covers international and local flights, as well as 10 nights' accommodations, breakfast daily, all transfers, fuel surcharges, and taxes and fees.

More: Optional activities include a half-day favela tour in Rio ($41 per person), a trolley tour in Búzios ($32 per person), and a half-day tour of Recife and nearby Olinda ($53 per person). Additional nights in Rio de Janeiro start at $45 per person at the Ibiza Copacabana.
