LAS VEGAS — The restaurants at the Wynn Las Vegas and sister Encore casino-resorts are re-imagining classic Julia Child dishes this week as more than 80 local restaurants offer special menus with proceeds going to charity.
Restaurant Week in Las Vegas benefits Three Square, a local food bank.
Several chefs at Wynn say they cooked for the late chef and are offering takes on dishes made famous in her classic cookbook "Mastering the Art of French Cooking."
Chef Alex Stratta says he plans to serve lobster Newberg at his two-Michelin star restaurant Alex, and coq au vin at his other restaurant Stratta. Coq au vin is a chicken dish cooked in red wine.
Seven other restaurants will serve dishes inspired by Child, recently portrayed by Meryl Streep in the film "Julie & Julia."
