The deal
If you’re one of the lucky ones that get Columbus Day off from work, what better way to celebrate than setting sail yourself? Not to mention, October is an excellent time to cruise because hurricane season has passed and peak-season prices drop dramatically. We’ve hunted down a five-night Caribbean sailing from Tampa priced up to 71-percent off rack rates.

After a seriously impressive multi-million dollar refurbishment, the Carnival Inspiration now boasts new a completely overhauled interior, waterslides for the kids, and a new adults-only lounge.  The ship sets sail on Oct. 10 and after a leisurely day at sea it makes its first stop in George Town, on Grand Cayman Island. Here passengers can experience the famous Seven Mile Beach, or head to the brand new Camana Bay Observation Tower for a sweeping 360-degree view. After that, the Inspiration anchors in the snorkeling paradise of Cozumel, Mexico, before returning to Tampa. Interior cabins for this voyage are priced from as little as $299, with oceanview staterooms available starting at $329.

The dollars
All prices are per person and based on double occupancy. Accommodations, meals, some beverages, entertainment and port charges are covered in the cost. Government fees and taxes as well as off-boat expenditures are extra.

The catch
These islands are far from being undiscovered.
