A woman suspected of stabbing her 3-and 5-year-old daughters before slashing herself with a kitchen knife was arrested Thursday, police said.

Thuy Le, 38, of Garden Grove, Calif., was arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted murder after being cleared by doctors to leave the hospital, Westminster police Officer Van Woodson said.

Le's daughter's remained hospitalized but are expected to recover, Woodson said. The 5-year-old underwent surgery Thursday for a chest wound.

Le was holding one of her daughters in her arms and both were covered in blood when officers arrived at her cousin's home, where the family had stayed overnight Wednesday.

Le's cousin, Toan Pham, told the Los Angeles Times that she had been having financial problems since she sold her massage therapy business, that but they didn't usually talk about money when she came over.

"I feel terrible that my nieces had to suffer so much," he said. "And to have this happen in my house."

Police don't have a motive for the attack, Woodson said.
