Eze, France

Congratulations to Stamford, Connecticut's Bob Stoddard, who submitted the top-rated image in this week’s It’s A Snap travel photo contest.

While on a three-week Mediterranean Holland America cruise with friends in June, Stoddard captured the vivid colors of an agave plant in bloom at the botanical gardens in Eze, France, located on the French Riviera between Nice and Monte Carlo.

“From Monte Carlo, we spent the morning in Nice, then the tour bus took us into Eze, which was definitely the highlight of the day,” said Stoddard.

Hugging a hilltop around an old chateau (castle ruins), the garden, Jardin Exotique (French for “exotic garden of Monaco”), is home to thousands of species of succulents and other plant species, and provides an amazing view of the Mediterranean Sea.

Reminiscing about the many ports-of -call, Stoddard said, “in Dubrovnik, we walked along the old city walls, Santorini looks like the pictures — we hiked in an active volcano there — and Tunisia was a neat cultural experience.”

“It was definitely like a life-changing trip”, said Stoddard. I saw many life-altering scenes, one of which was Eze. I can’t wait to go back”.

Stoddard captured the winning shot with a 10 megapixel Panasonic DMC-T23.
