Traverse City, Mich., from $45 per room per night

The $45 starting rate is good at 11 hotels, including the ParkShore Resort, right on the city's bay. You can also upgrade to other hotels starting at an additional $15 a night.

Sparta, the self-described Bicycling Capital of America, has an extensive system of state trails that burst into color in October. You can also arrange shuttle service to and from the trailheads through the Franklin. Rates start at $109 per room per night, or $218 for the required two-night stay.

The Shop Till Ya Drop package includes accommodations at the Inn at Harbour Ridge in a room with a fireplace, breakfast daily, and a $50 gift card for the Osage Beach Premium Outlets. Osage Beach is located on the Lake of the Ozarks, where the vibrant fall foliage peaks in late October. Rates start at $163 per room per night, or $326 for the required two-night stay.

Chattanooga, Tenn., from $200 per room per night
The Choo Choo Centennial Package includes accommodations at the Holiday Inn Chattanooga Choo Choo, breakfast and dinner daily, tickets to the Model Railroad Museum and the hourlong Missionary Ridge train (a $27 value), complimentary Centennial glasses, and a Glenn Miller CD.
