Nora weakened from a tropical storm to a tropical depression far out in the Pacific overnight.

The system's maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph early Friday and it's expected to get weaker.

The system is centered about 890 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula and is moving west near 7 mph.

Nora was the 17th named storm of the Eastern Pacific hurricane season.
